Eluterio Gallegos Wanted to make sure he always had work for himself. So 30 years ago, he and his wife Agnes opened a Mexican take-out restaurant in Kearns. They ran the take-out establishment for 10 years until they were able to build their own formal restaurant.
Well, Eluterio not only created plenty of work for himself, but he has at one time or another employed all of his children and grandchildren. The restaurant he built, El Rancho Grande, now has two locations - one in Kearns and one in Draper.
The Draper location, at 372 E. 12300 South, Opened in 2002 and is owned and operated by daughter Anita Sharp; Son Gene Gallegos runs the El Rancho Grande at 4750 S. 4850 West in Kearns.
Anita tells me that guests who stop in at either location will likely be served the generations-old family recipes by a member of the Gallegos family. Some of those favorite recipes include Chili Verde, homemade tamales and El Rancho Grande's legendary fajitas.
While the decor at each restaurant is unique, both the Draper and Kerns locations have full-service bars, take-out services and space to accommodate large groups. El Rancho Grande serves lunch and dinner six days a week, and the Draper restaurant offers patio dining.
Anita says she enjoys interacting with the guests who come to dine at her restaurant, many of whom have become good friends. And guests of El Rancho Grande in Kearns and Draper appreciate the restaurant's friendly atmosphere, good food and fair prices.
